By moonlight over marsh and moor I fly
Enraged by Hrothgar’s revels
Enemy of my bloodline is man
Drunken mead hall minstrels
In Heorot, the hearth fire-light has died
The night is still, men sleep
I snap the dozing sentinel’s neck
Among the dormant creep
Snatching the sleeping forms from their beds
I devour their muscled limbs
Sinew from splintered bone I rip
Gorge on my gruesome feast
The ring-giver’s fealty-sworn band laid waste
No man can stand against me
Night after night I repeat my raid
Until my slayer I meet
